Rose Shipley passed away March 28, 2015. She was born April 30, 1926 in Yoakum, Texas to Mabel Ruth and Clifton Earl Kirtley, Sr.
She graduated from Yoakum H. S. in 1943 and from Lillie Jolly School of Nursing in Houston in 1946 with her Registered Nursing degree.
Rose and J.R. (Jim) were married July 29, 1948 and moved to Victoria from Dallas. She worked at Gonzales Warm Springs Foundation for Crippled Children, Baylor Hospital in Dallas, DeTar in Victoria and at Citizens Medical Center for most of her career.

Rose was a charter member of Baptist Temple church and dedicated many hours serving in every way she could as long as she was able.
She dearly loved her family and especially her grand and great-grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Clifton Earl Kirtley, Jr., and husband Jim.
She is survived by daughters Patsy Burdick (Charles, Sr.) of Victoria, Ruth Wise (Hillie) of Estes Park, CO., grandchildren Ray Wise (Lacy) of Laredo, Becky Clemons (David) of Friendswood, James (Bill) Burdick (Anita) of Victoria, Clifton Burdick of Carrollton, and Charles Burdick, Jr. of Clarksville, TN. Great grandchildren are Nicole and Daniel Clemons, James Wise and Emily Burdick.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Funeral service will be 10 AM on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Baptist Temple with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearer will be Ray Wise, James Burdick, Clifton Burdick, David Clemons, Stephen Rayborn, Richard Feher and Connor Feher.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of Rose's great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank everyone who has visited, sent cards or otherwise expressed their love and concern during Rose's illness. Also a sincere thanks to all the caregivers who have ministered in their special ways.
