Dorothy Mae Valigura Swoboda passed away October 14, 2016. She was born to Charlie and Mary Melofsky Valigura on January 5, 1925, in the Plainview Community near El Campo, Texas. She got her elementary education at Plainview School and graduated from El Campo High School in 1942. Shortly after graduation she came to Victoria and later worked as a bookkeeper at Victoria Machine Works where in 1945 she met Frank Swoboda who just returned from serving in the Air Force. They were married on November 2, 1948, and he was the love of her life....

Dorothy Mae Valigura Swoboda passed away October 14, 2016. She was born to Charlie and Mary Melofsky Valigura on January 5, 1925, in the Plainview Community near El Campo, Texas. She got her elementary education at Plainview School and graduated from El Campo High School in 1942. Shortly after graduation she came to Victoria and later worked as a bookkeeper at Victoria Machine Works where in 1945 she met Frank Swoboda who just returned from serving in the Air Force. They were married on November 2, 1948, and he was the love of her life. After his retirement they became actively engaged in ranching until his death. They were united in marriage by Reverend J. C. Felger and were members of First English Lutheran Church and attended Adult Sunday School. To this union were born two sons, Gary and Darrell Swoboda.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband Frank Swoboda, brother Lewis Valigura, and sisters Annie LaCoss, and Lou Thurmond.

She is survived by sons Gary Swoboda (Janice) of Sugar Land and Darrell Swoboda (Scarlet) of Victoria. Grandchildren Summer Gault (Terry) of San Antonio, Dru Swoboda (Bridget) of Victoria, Laurie Nichols (Michael) of McKinney, and Leigh Anne Goerland (Ehren) of Katy. Great-grandchildren Brant, Cade and Bralyn Gault, Hagen and Kylee Swoboda, Lorelei, Liam, Liesel, Leighton, Linus, Leila, Liza, Livia, and Luca Nichols, and Kaitlyn and Brendan Goerland.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Home, services will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at First English Lutheran Church. Pallbearers will be Summer Gault, Dru Swoboda, Brant Gault, Leigh Anne Goerland, Derrick Swoboda, and Kurt Swoboda. Honorary pallbearer Laurie Nichols.
