Obituary


Charles B. Nelson, Sr., 86, left this life on January 7, 2018, to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Charles was born August 24, 1931 to the late Otto Stephen and Ruby Singer Nelson and was a lifelong resident of Inez, Texas. He retired from Texas Concrete after over 30 years of employment. Charles loved his pecan orchard and won several awards for his pecans. He also grew fruit trees and had gardens which produced strawberries and vegetables. Charles also loved to get his fishing pole wet in the ponds and creeks.

Charles is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann Grantham (Fred) of Inez, Sharon Erdelt (Tony) of Inez, Laurie Cuthbertson (Bob) of Simonton, TX; sons, Charles Nelson Jr. (Donna) of Inez, Sidney Nelson of Victoria; sister, Patricia Nelson Lemke of Inez; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren on the way.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents and wife of over 60 years, Gwendolyn Marie Nelson.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 6-7 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Inez with a Rosary to be recited at 7PM.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Inez with burial immediately following at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Nelson, John Nelson, Justin Nelson, Bob Grantham, James Grantham, Aaron Erdelt, Brian Perry, Ben Perkins and Ricky Maddox.
