Adolph J. Jurena, 87, of Victoria passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. He was born May 6, 1923 in Hochheim, Texas to the late Frank and Janie Petru Jurena. Mr. Jurena worked for the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament and Citizens Medical Center in the engineering department retiring after 25 years.
Adolph was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army during the Romo- Arno, North Appennines and the PO Valley battles, during this time he received the EAME Campaign Medal with three bronze stars, Good Conduct Metal,...

Adolph J. Jurena, 87, of Victoria passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. He was born May 6, 1923 in Hochheim, Texas to the late Frank and Janie Petru Jurena. Mr. Jurena worked for the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament and Citizens Medical Center in the engineering department retiring after 25 years.
Adolph was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army during the Romo- Arno, North Appennines and the PO Valley battles, during this time he received the EAME Campaign Medal with three bronze stars, Good Conduct Metal, Purple Heart, two Overseas Service Bars, American Defense Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Distinguished Unit Badge and was a member of the DAV.
Survivors include sister, Annie Motal of Victoria; sister-in-law, Frances Jurena of Yoakum; Godfrey Petru (Evelyn) of Goliad; nieces, Beatrice Dieringer (Shelton) of Inez, Pauline Sturm (Herman) of Victoria, Evelyn Dierlam (Wayne) of Victoria, Carole Petru Rackley of Victoria, Janet Petru of Victoria; nephews, Michael Jurena (Lois) of Yoakum, Bernard Jurena (Nancy) of Yoakum, Frank Motal, Jr. (Georgia Lynn) of Victoria, Stephen Motal (Susie) of Victoria, Wayne Petru of Goliad and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clement Jurena; sister, Rosalie Petru; brother-in-law, Frank Motal, Sr. and nieces, Carolyn Jurena and Annie Mary Motal.
A rosary will be recited at 7 PM on Friday, July 23, 2010 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. A funeral mass will be held 10 AM on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Celestino Say officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council, Al, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, Ex-Pow, MOPH, VVA and the KWV.
Pallbearers include Frank Motal, Jr., Stephen Motal, Wayne Petru, Bernard Jurena, Mark Dieringer, Bryan Dierlam, Chad Sneed and Frank Motal III.
Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Clifford, Gilbert Kupfernagel, Victor McDonald, John D. Payne, Frank Smolka, Leonard Adolph Jurena, Mark Dierlam, Larry Dierlam, Stanley Dierlam, David Dierlam, Gerald Sturm, Kevin Strum, Byron Sturm, Kyle Motal, Edward Motal, Len Jurena and Michael Jurena.
Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Sanctuary Restoration Project.
